WHAT ARE "THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC"?

People Need People is supported by Falkirk Council Community Education Service, established to promote the educational, social and emotional well being of citizens living within the Falkirk Council area who have an interest in mental health issues. This could be a present or past user of psychiatric services, a carer, relative, friend etc. The activities are structured around individual members needs and interests and sessions are designed to be informal and enjoyable. The groups also provide an opportunity for people to develop friendships and enjoy themselves in a relaxed and informal setting.
Sounds Of Music
Music has always been used therapeutically and also has a practical and educational
significance. The aim of the group is multifaceted: it aims to achieve a better
understanding of music and interaction with other musicians while providing
a relaxed environment. It’s somewhere people can meet informally using music
as a platform to encourage and promote better quality in their lives and increase
their sense of well being and a feeling of togetherness. The class members are
learning all the time about things such as working with other musicians, how
to compliment one another with their instrument as well as song structure, recording
techniques, chord relationships, harmony and phrasing etc.
The group presently runs 3 hours per week.
The music group is mainly targeted at those individuals
interested in mental health problems. Carers and workers alike often visit us
so it’s an enlightening experience for their development too. People Need
People increases member’s confidence and pride in their creations and achievements.
Hopefully this will inspire anyone interested to contact Park St on 01324
503670 and speak to Irene to get more information.
The classes presently meet every Tuesday 1-4pm.
